Christmas Island Flying-fox

Binomial name: Pteropus natalis
​Visual description: Medium-sized bat with dark fur and slightly rounded features. Unique to Christmas Island.
Measurements: Wingspan: ~0.6–0.8 m; Body mass: ~400–600 g
Distribution: Christmas Island only
Roosting habits: Small camps in forested areas
Diet: Fruit, nectar
Threats: Habitat degradation, invasive species
Conservation status: EPBC Act: Critically Endangered; IUCN: Vulnerable (as subspecies of Pteropus melanotus)
